New Members Workshop: November 5th
3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. 7 It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. 8 For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. 9 And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. —Philippians 1:3-11
At Life Community Church, we desire to form the same kind of covenantal partnership to which Paul refers in speaking in this letter to a young church. He knows that that basis is the gospel, and that the work that the good news of the resurrection of Jesus Christ has brought about in their lives is continued best when they are of like mind, of like vision, of like hope. This holds true for us as well, for we also “yearn with the affection of Christ Jesus” to be a family on mission to make disciples who make disciples.
One of the ways we can lead people to follow Jesus in all of life is to offer an opportunity to covenant together for the sake of the Kingdom of God. New Members Workshop is that opportunity to not only learn about how Life Community Church goes about this process of making disciples who make disciples, but also why God has called us to do it in this way, in this particular area, at this particular time. We desire to be a family of missionary servants who both lives out and proclaims the gospel in the manner to which God has called us.
A covenant is defined as “a written agreement or promise usually under seal between two or more parties especially for the performance of some action.” Covenants between God and man, as well as covenants solely between men, are common throughout Scripture. At New Members Workshop, you will learn how these primary purposes are carried out at Life Community Church:
- FAMILY To form authentic community that reflects the relationship between the Father, Son, & Spirit & to clarify the Biblical obligations and expectations of both the LCC elders, and members.
- MISSIONARY To aid in accomplishing God’s mission for the Life Community Church family.
- SERVANT To encourage consistency, accountability, and loving unity within the local church family.
If you’ve taken BASIC and are interested in learning what it means to be a covenant member at Life Community Church, come join us on Saturday, November 5th, from 9 AM to 12 PM, and take your next step to partner with us!
