Life Kids Blog – Friendship
In The Greenhouse, this month’s theme is “Friendship”. As a third grade teacher, I think that the adults in this world probably need this lesson more than their children. For most 8 year olds, arguments last approximately 5 minutes and then it’s like nothing ever happened. For a lot of adults, an argument that should be over in 5 minutes lasts days, weeks or even years.
The tag line for the month is “Stuck Like Glue”. What would happen if we made that kind of commitment in our friendships? What if we injected an extra dose of loyalty and tolerance into our actions? Jesus sure did. He stuck by his disciples, even though he knew he would be doubted, denied and betrayed.
When I moved to Quincy 8 months ago, I went from having too many friends to keep up with to 1. God certainly taught me a lesson about the importance of friendship. He also stretched me in a way that I haven’t been stretched since I was 19. I had to learn how to make friends again. Slowly, but surely, I’m getting there. Every day, every text message and every girls night is bringing me closer to the new and wonderful people that God has put in my life.
So, in true Girl Scout fashion- Make new friends and keep the old. One is silver and the other’s gold.-
Cherish and grow your existing friendships. Look for opportunities to create new relationships and share the love of Jesus. The blessings that are found in friendship are unlike any others.
